In the United States, help with legal matters for those who may otherwise be unable to afford it is provided to them via a network of public interest law firms and community clinics.
For the law firms and clinics that are a part of the legal aid system, limits are usually set about how many and what kind of clients they will take on. this is due to the demand for legal aid far outweighing the amount of participating services available.
The kinds of cases and clients involved with legal aid vary greatly, and may include areas such as
